2014 is winding down and 2015 is just around the corner and we want to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a bright new year. Thanks so much for the support we have received this year which helped us have our most successful year to date!
Board applications have been submitted and we have 5 extremely qualified candidates running for a seat on the USGBC Idaho board for the 2015-2016 two year term. Elections will be open until Monday January 12th.
We are excited about our plans for programming and engagement in 2015 and will need lots of support to accomplish our goals of creating green building resources, providing education to the community, advocating for sustainable policies, and expanding our outreach to new audiences. Please let us know if you can get involved and contribute to our efforts to create a vibrant and sustainable future for the Gem State.

Kris Wilson is the newest edition to the USGBC Idaho Chapter. Kris brings a background in environmental resource protection, a diverse skill set and a motivation for promoting green building practices to the position. In 2000, Kris graduated summa cum laude with a Biological Resources degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He went on to work in climate change ecological impact and carbon cycle research. Since relocating to Idaho in 2008, Kris has worked in applied water resource conservation and as an administrator for energy efficiency, alternative energy, and economic revitalization projects in rural Idaho. He subsequently managed the Idaho Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund which finances environmental contamination clean up projects throughout the state. Most recently, Kris worked with Community Rebuilds, a Utah based affordable, sustainable housing organization that developed an award winning green building education and economic improvement program using straw bale construction techniques. We welcome Kris and look forward to his contributions as we transform the way buildings are designed, built and operated.

USGBC Idaho is in immediate need of a motivated, self-starting individual to aid our organization in green building advocacy and communications outreach.
The position requires a balance of in-office and virtual work, however in-person assistance is desired from noon through 3pm on Tuesday afternoons. The position requires 10 hours of work/week and is paid a monthly stipend of $300.
The USGBC Idaho Communications Intern authors weekly newsletters as well as unique content for the USGBC website, coordinates social media outreach, assists with production of a weekly radio show Building A Greener Idaho, audio-engineers podcasts and analyzes communication data to optimize communication outreach. On the job training is available however prior experience with website administration, audio-editing and graphic design programs are an asset.
