| USGBC West Region Council Meeting For the past couple of years USGBC National, along with many individuals, has been working to form regional councils. They formed eight regions, placing Colorado in the West Region along with Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Each regional council consists of two representatives from each state. On March 2 and 3 the representatives from each state chapter met in Denver to organize the USGBC West Region Council. The purpose of this council is to provide a method for state chapters to band together and share best practices and resources, provide support for each other, and speak with a unified voice to the National Chapter Steering Committee regarding operational items that affect individual chapters. To accomplish this last purpose, two members of the West Region Council will also serve on the National Chapter Steering Committee. Those members are Stace McGee from the New Mexico Chapter (stace@edi-arch.com) and Dana Kose (dana.kose@mortenson.com). Stace will also serve as this year’s Chair for the West Region Council. If you have any comments or questions, please contact either Amy Jiron (amy@usgbccolorado.org) or Dana Kose (dana.kose@mortenson.com) so they can respond with action to the council and/or committee if needed. As you may know, Greenbuild 2006 will be held in Denver, Colorado. As such, the West Region Council is going to support the Colorado Host Committee by recruiting students to volunteer at the conference. Each student who volunteers at least eight hours will gain free conference registration. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please contact the USGBC Idaho Chapter at info@usgbcidaho.org. |
