ASHRAE, USGBC, IESNA Partner on New Standard
New standard to drive high performance building practices to the mainstream

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC); the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North American (IESNA) announced on February 15, 2006 that the three organizations have agreed to co-sponsor the development of a new ASHRAE/USGBC/IESNA minimum standard for high performance green building. City of Moscow Green Building Program
On April 1st, 2006 the City of Moscow will officially begin its Moscow Green Building Program. This local program offers homebuilders the ability to use a variety of resources including LEED for Homes as methods of certification. Moscow will also offer a variety of educational workshops.

Front 5 Building LEED Certified
On February 22, 2006 the U.S. Green Building Council awarded the Front 5 Building in downtown Boise with a LEED Certified Rating!

This is the second Certified building in the State of Idaho (after the Ada County Courthouse LEED-EB Silver Certification) and the first LEED-NC Certified Building in the State.

MERGE: Chair Affair + Design Tradeshow with Sustainable Emphasis
The Interior Designers of Idaho (idi) are excited to announce that this year they are combining the bi-annual tradeshow and the annual Chair Affair design competition into one exciting event. This event, titled "MERGE", is a one-day community forum on sustainable design created to bring together designers, architects, manufacturers, suppliers, and the people of Boise to learn about the positive imact sustainable design can have on our fragile planet.

AIA Calls for 50% Reduction of Fossil Fuel Use in Buildings
Through its Board of Directors, The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has adopted position statements to promote sustainable design and resource conservation to achieve a minimum reduction of fifty percent of the current consumption level of fossil fuels used to construct and operate buildings by the year 2010.  Read more>>

White House Summit
Over 25 federal agencies were represented at last month's White House Summit on Federal Sustainable Buidlings. As a result of this summit, 17 Federal Agencies and the Executive Office of the President (EOP) signed the first-of-its-kind Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to federal leadership in the design, construction, and operation of high performance buildings.
