This course is intended for those who have completed the “LEED Overview for Idaho” workshop or have some experience with a LEED project and are looking to learn about the specifics of the LEED EB + OM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings + Operations and Maintenance) Rating System. The course begins with a very brief introduction to the benefits and integrative approach to green building as well as background on the U.S. Green Building Council and LEED, including fundamentals of the building certification process. The course presents an overview of LEED intents and requirements at the credit category level— touching on trends, best practices and local examples. Key LEED metrics and referenced standards are addressed throughout. You will leave this course with an intermediate understanding of the intent and requirements for the LEED EB + OM rating system and of green building trends, regulations and incentives for existing buildings.
