Meridian City Hall Lunch Lecture

March 19, 2010 – 12:00

Please carpool as parking is limited.  RSVP to Shelby at ShelbyS@musgrovepa.com

The topic of the March lecture is Meridian City Hall. Scheduled lecturers are Steve Simmons and Steve Christiansen of LCA Architects (lcarch.com). Simmons and Christiansen will speak on their roles in the design and construction of the LEED-certified Meridian City Hall.

Having joined LCA Architects in 1986, Steve Simmons currently serves as the company’s president. He is involved in the day-to-day operations and marketing efforts of the firm. As part of LCA’s Justice Group, his primary focus is on governmental- and justice-related project types, working with elected officials and community groups to achieve consensus. Simmons is also involved in the firm’s commercial- and facilities-related work.

Several of the firm’s recent projects that Simmons has been involved with include the Ada County Courthouse, Nampa Public Safety Complex, Meridian City Hall, Meridian Police Facility, Washougal Police Department and the Bonner County Court Master Plan.

Steve Christiansen joined LCA Architects in 1994 and became an associate principal in 1999. In the time prior to joining LCA Architects, Christiansen was directly responsible for construction phase management of over $48 million of a broad range of public-sector projects, including municipal, education and correctional facilities.

Since joining LCA Architects, Christiansen has continued using his project-management and architectural-design skills on primarily large-scale public-sector projects, primarily focusing on public-safety facilities such as police, sheriff and emergency-operation facilities, as well as correctional facilities. Other project types Christiansen has been involved with include financial institutions as well as general commercial.

Christiansen served six years as a member of the City of Boise’s Design Review Committee and chaired the committee in 2008. In addition, he has been an active participant in the development of new design review guidelines for the City of Boise. This service to the community is indicative of Christiansen’s personnel recognition of the importance of quality design in the built environment.
