Green LEEDers Social with Roger Quarles
Green LEEDers Social – March 9, 2010
6:00-8:30
Integrated Design Lab
Roger Quarles is the Superintendant of the Caldwell School District, and has been instrumental in promoting and achieving LEED certification for Caldwell schools. In doing so, he has raised the bar for the rest of the school districts in Idaho.
Roger has been recognized for his leadership in this critical area, and was presented with the Better Bricks Award in 2008 for his commitment to the health of the students in his district, while showing the business case for greener schools to the tax payers, saving money with more energy efficient heating, cooling and lighting in the new schools. He was recognized again in 2009 with the first USGBC Idaho Award for increasing the awareness of LEED for schools, and his tireless efforts at educating the public and policy makers about the merits of sustainable building.
Roger will discuss the vision and implementations of the Caldwell push for green schools, the obstacles encountered along the way, strategies to overcome the obstacles, and the outcomes. There will be time for questions and answers, as the format for Green LEEDers is built around an interactive and dynamic audience and guest speaker.
